Punta Cana Resorts
There are over 60 Punta Cana resorts at the moment with more going
up as we speak. This is becoming the most popular tourist destination
worldwide, mainly because it’s on the most beautiful beach
in the world. The majority of hotels are Punta Cana all inclusives,
but there are some pay your way options available.
Before we start, we should tell you a little about us and how our
traveling has changed over the years. We've been going to Punta
Cana for a decade now, first as honeymooners and now as parents.
We used to go to adults-only resorts in Punta Cana sometimes, but
we haven't done that in awhile. The first time we brought our daughters
to the beach and saw the looks of unparalleled happiness - we knew
that we could never go without them again. So keep in mind that
we are family travelers now, the reviews of adults-only resorts
are based on trips made over a year ago (before our daughters, Michaela
& Zoe, fell in love with the most beautiful beach in the world.)
The
goal of this page is to give you an overview of all the Punta Cana
resorts and what you should expect when you get there. Hopefully
this information will help you choose what hotels in Punta Cana
are worth investigating (or avoiding).
On each Punta Cana Resorts page we’ve tried to provide: the
focus of the hotel (food, activities, couples, adults only, kid
friendly); pros and cons of the Punta Cana all inclusives; tips
for making the best of the resort; dining and activity details.
Punta Cana resort rankings
All Dominican hotel star ratings are based on criteria such as
comfort, food, cleanliness, atmosphere, activities, grounds &
location. They are decided almost wholly by the resorts themselves
and the Dominican Tourist Board. One thing to keep in mind is that
these Dominican hotel rankings are compared only to other Dominican
hotels, they are not compared to hotels internationally. Don’t
think that a 4 star rating in New York is comparable to a 4 star
rating in Punta Cana – they’re not.
However, we have found that they tend to be a little nicer than
Cuban and Mexican hotels with equivalent rankings. As a general
rule: 4 star resorts are very comfortable, offer a good range of
activities and have decent dining options. Five star Punta Cana
resorts will charge you a little more, but pamper you a little bit
extra in each of the categories listed above. Three star resorts
tend to be a little older and have a somewhat decreased comfort
level, but if that doesn’t bother you – you’ll
save a bundle and the ocean is the same!
If you find something that we’ve slipped up on (resorts do
change their ways quite frequently) or something that you found
particularly useful please let us know by visiting our Contact Us
page. We try our best to keep this site’s info current and
accurate, we appreciate your help in doing so!
Punta Cana Resorts listings
We
are working away on this page and there will soon be listings for
every one of the resorts. Don’t think that we only suggest
the Punta Cana resorts that are listed here, they’ll all be
up shortly. We have visited most of the hotels in Punta Cana and
you’ll be seeing our reviews of those. As for the ones we
haven’t been to yet, our Compadre Armando who owns a travel
business in Punta Cana will be writing the reviews. Armando has
visited every one of the hotels in Punta Cana with his family and
provides very detailed and candid assessments.
These reviews are completely subjective, they are a reflection
of what our stay was like at each of the resorts - what we enjoyed
and didn't enjoy. We are not trying to sell you on any of them in
particular, only letting you know how good of a time we had.
Click on the link of the Punta Cana hotel you’re interested
in to see more information about the resort. We are listing the
hotels in order of location from North to South instead of alphabetically
- at least you'll know where your hotel is.
